The summer months can be very difficult for a car to go through. Extreme heat and humidity can take their toll on a vehicle and leave it sitting on a tow truck at the end of the day. There are a few simple steps that you can take to avoid and unexpected trip to the mechanic. Check your oil levels, and make sure that the oil has been changed recently. If you expect to be driving in particularly hot weather, or if you expect to be working on the vehicle particularly hard, then consider changing to a thicker viscosity oil, as it is better able to lubricate in warmer temperatures. Check your air conditioning and make sure that it's working. Check your anti-freeze level and the condition of it. Make sure it is clean and green. Check your cooling fan for proper operation. Also make sure your tires have a safe amount of tread on them, and have the proper tire pressure.
